Iconic Prague 2026 — Prague in Architecture

Solo Exhibition by Katka Neveu at Galerie Slávky Krátké, Prague 1

Prague, October 2026 — Artist Katka Neveu presents a new edition of her long‑term art project ICONIC PRAGUE, launched in 2024 with the first five works. From the beginning, the project has evolved as a personal visual chronicle of the city — a poetic exploration of Prague through its iconic places, layers of memory, and shifting atmospheres.

Prague in Architecture — this year's theme

Each year, the artist chooses a new perspective that moves the project forward. While previous editions focused on the historical centre (Iconic Prague No. 1–5) and later on the surroundings of Vyšehrad (Iconic Prague No. 6–9), the 2026 exhibition Iconic Prague 2026 is dedicated to the architectural styles that shape Prague's identity (Iconic Prague No. 10–13).

Each painting as a standalone architectural chapter

The exhibition presents a series of works, each devoted to a single architectural style. Where earlier editions allowed Gothic towers to merge with Baroque silhouettes and modernist lines, this year Gothic, Baroque, Art Nouveau, and Cubism are interpreted separately. The artist focuses on the characteristic shapes, rhythm, light, and atmosphere of each epoch, turning every painting into a small chapter about how architecture tells the story of the city.

The selection of iconic places is entirely individual — guided not by popularity, but by the personal connection the artist feels to each location.

Technique: ink and watercolour collage

The artist works with a technique that has become a defining feature of the entire project: a collage of architectural elements created in ink and watercolour, layered like fragments of memory. As in Italo Calvino's book Invisible Cities, the initial inspiration for the project, the real and the imagined intertwine — memory, dream, architecture, and personal experience.

A project that grows every year

ICONIC PRAGUE currently comprises 13 works and expands annually with 4–5 new pieces. Iconic Prague 2026 presents the latest part of this collection, offering a view of Prague that can be read as a visual score in which epochs, styles, and moods alternate.

All exhibited artworks are available for purchase, and signed posters as well as original Iconic Prague greeting cards can be purchased during the exhibition.

While some original pieces from this project have already been sold, Katka can create a new one on commission — enriched with a custom detail that reflects the collector´s story.
